The company also owns NUR Media Solutions S.A., located near Brussels, which develops and markets advanced consumables for NUR printers, as well as 84 percent of NUR Germany in Kassel, a digital printing and outdoor advertising company. The company employs over 450 persons worldwide, including more than 100 at its headquarters, R&D center and manufacturing facilities in Israel. With flagship products such as the NUR Blueboard HiQ superwide piezo continuous inkjet printing system and the NUR Fresco screen-less wide format press for production printing, the company ended 1999 with earnings at an all time high. Record revenues and profits were recorded for the fourth quarter and year ended December 31, 1999. Under the leadership of Chairman Dan Purjes, and President and CEO Erez Shachar, the companys 1999 revenues totaled $60.72 million, an increase of 66.6 percent compared with $36.45 million for the fourth quarter of the previous year. For the second quarter ended June 30, 2000, NUR Macroprinters reported revenues of $24.1 million compared with $13.5 million for the same quarter in 1999. Net income for the quarter ended June 30, 1999 was $3.1 million as compared with approximately $1.5 million the previous year. Mr. Purjes, chairman of NUR, holds both a BS and an MS in computer science from City College of New Yorks School of Engineering, and brings a wealth of experience to the company. He is chairman and CEO of Josephthal & Co., a leading NYSE member investment bank to middle-market companies. Josephthal and its affiliated firms employ more than 1,500 persons in over 200 offices in the US and around the world. Before joining Josephthal, Mr. Purjes was employed by a number of securities firms, including Bear Stearns and Co., Morgan Stanley & Co., and L.F. Rothschild Unterberg Towbin. Mr. Purjes led an investor group that acquired control of NUR Macroprinters in 1997. Shortly after the change in control, Mr. Purjes recruited Erez Shachar as President and CEO to implement a turn-around and growth strategy for the company. Mr. Shachar, President and CEO since 1997, joined NUR after serving as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Scitex Europe. With a B.Sc. in mathematics and computer sciences from Tel Aviv University and an MBA from INSEAD, France, along with extensive experience in sales, marketing, and R&D, Mr. Shachar spearheaded the growth and success of he company. Since the new management assumed control in 1997, NUR has experienced uninterrupted record growth in revenues and profits. NUR Macroprinters looks forward to additional growth in 2000 as the commercial release of its newest product, the NUR Fresco, moves into high gear. The NUR Fresco is targeted at the screen printing industry, which despite its $10 million-plus size, is still a manual industry.
